Join Friends of the Teton River, American Rivers, and Trout Unlimited for a free screening of Second Chance — a short film (~20 minutes) about the last major, free-flowing river in eastern Idaho, the Teton River. Following the film, there will be a facilitated panel discussion.

The Teton River is one of the last strongholds in the world for Yellowstone Cutthroat trout, a working agricultural river, and the lifeblood of Teton Valley and downstream communities. But in 1976, everything changed. The catastrophic collapse of the Teton Dam unleashed nearly 80 billion gallons of water, killing 11 people, flooding hundreds of thousands of acres, and causing billions of dollars in damage.

50 years later, the river — and the people who depend on it — continue to recover, rebuild, and reimagine the future of the watershed. Through the eyes of anglers, scientists, ranchers, and river stewards, Second Chance follows the collaboration unfolding to protect the Teton River, a vital native trout fishery and one of the West’s last intact river ecosystems, before history has the chance to repeat itself.
