Summer Fisheries Intern
We are seeking summer fisheries intern to join our team to assist with fisheries research in the Teton River Watershed. Primary job responsibilities include assisting with electrofishing survey of the tributaries to the Teton River, conducting hook and line surveys, assisting with installation and maintenance of research equipment, and maintaining organized, accurate records of this data.
Candidates will be expected to have a strong desire to learn about fisheries science, to have an interest in the Teton River watershed fishery, and to have a strong work ethic. A background in fisheries science is desired, but interested in angling, river sports or aquatic life can substitute.
We are seeking a few highly qualified volunteers to assist with an electrofishing survey of the tributaries to the Teton River. Over the next six weeks (August-September), FTR’s small field crew will be systematically conducting backpack electrofishing surveys on the tributaries to the Teton River. Volunteers should understand that the nature of the work will be strenuous, and at times performed in inclement weather conditions at altitudes over 6,000 feet. A limited number of volunteers will be accepted, with priority going to those with prior fisheries research/electrofishing experience, other research field work experience, and/or those able to commit to multiple field days.
