Public Forums

Every year, FTR organizes public forums about local watershed issues to keep the community informed and listen to public comment.

  • November 2004—Representatives from Idaho Department of Water Resources presented information about the Snake River Adjudication Process. The event was attended by 150 farmers and irrigators.
  • February 2004—FTR organized a Yellowstone cutthroat trout forum with Idaho Fish and Game to discuss the current 95% decline of Yellowstone cutthroat trout in the Teton River. 70 people attended this event.
  • February 2005—FTR staff presented the information they have learned through research and field work in the past five years and discussed with the community the future of water resources in Teton Valley.
  • March 2005—Research Director John Rice and Groundwater Modeler Michael Nicklin presented the results of the FTR groundwater recharge study to the public.
  • October 2005—Education Director Anna Lindstedt shared her trip through the Columbia River Basin “From the Headwaters to the Coast,” sharing the impacts of human interests and economics on the ecology of the system.
