July 12, 2007 - (07/12/2007) - The rain came and went and within 20 minutes partygoers shed their slickers. The tents that had been set up in anticipation of shade-providing utility offered shelter from the storm. It seemed to allow for more socialization with everyone mushed under the tents, FTR Development Director Anna Lindstandt said. Lindstandt estimated somewhere between 325 and 350 people in attendance. “It just keeps growing,” she said, noting last year’s attendance of 250 people. They grossed more this year, with more than $21,000 to go toward the non-profit organization. While they haven’t calculated expenses yet, Lindstandt noted that sponsorship from the United Bank of Idaho for music and beverages, a boat donation from Clackacraft and a great deal on food from Bubba’s BBQ would make for less expenses. Besides the fundraising aspect, the party is a great community event, Lindstandt noted. “It’s just so nice to see the people support the river,” she said, noting that even though the event seems to continually grow, they will not grow out of the community feel. The next FTR event is a full moon river float from Rainey Bridge to Packsaddle on July 30 beginning with a potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m. at Rainey.
